Levels 4 and 5 are qualifications between level 3 (A levels & T levels) and level 6+ (bachelors & master’s degrees, PhDs).
Relatively few students take these qualifications, with figures from 2018 showing that approximately 216,000 people took level 4 and 5. This is mainly because employers and learners are broadly unfamiliar with the qualifications compared to degree programmes.
Level 4 and 5 have 3,368 different qualifications available with the most common ones taken being health, public services and care (23%), business administration and law (17%) and engineering and manufacturing technologies (12%).
