Why Maths A-level is the ticket to a top university

When it comes to top universities, ‘facilitating subjects’ such as sciences and maths play a particularly important role.

On average, the more of these subjects you have, the more likely you are to gain a position at these universities.

Some subjects at university, such as accounting, business and law rarely have a related A-level equivalent which makes it difficult for students to choose appropriate A-level subjects. For these cases, subjects such as Maths are looked favourably upon, even though they are not an explicit requirement.
