As a teacher, you may have found that students are easily distracted by devices such as smartphones and tablets. How can you regain students’ attention?
- Make learning more fun: gaining attention of students is not as challenging as sustaining it. Integrating technology into classes can help reduce the monotony of a class.
- Ban Devices: Mobile phones can cause significant disruption to a class and it has been found that schools who had implemented phone bans did better on their GCSE exams than students in schools with no phone ban.
- Adapt devices: If banning devices is challenging, blocking software exists which can block certain websites for a period of time. Learning apps can also block noisy notifications from constantly distracting in the class.
